Peace on Earth in the Prince of Peace

"The world has changed!" Almost every generation has said it. Pearl Harbor…JFK assassination…September 11. Moments in time eternally frozen in our memories along with the insignificant things we were doing at the moment we heard. Muslim terrorists will one day join the "Commies", Nazis, Romans, and Assyrians as Great Enemies … of the past. This seemingly insurmountable tragedy will appear as insignificant as we look back on it from Glory as our childhood problems do to us now. Perhaps some of the most comforting words from scripture are "and it came to pass…" for one day, as sure as the sun rises "this, too shall pass."

The comfortable world we thought we knew is gone. Our world has changed. Yet Solomon said that there is nothing new under the sun. The world has not changed, only our perception of it has, and as I thought back on the Christ-child and his mission, I realized just how much is still the same. In fact, several key facets will never change until the Prince of Peace rules on earth. 1) One billion Muslims are currently headed toward Hell (and we are more aware than ever of that great need) - along with billions more nominal Christians, Hindus, and others. 2) God has provided a Way of escape, but He has provided only One Way. 3) No one will know of that Way unless some one tells them. Let us do our part.

The boys were of course excited about Christmas. It’s hard to believe William just had his sixth birthday. At 4 ½, Dalton is finally emerging from the terrible twos - actually he’s being pushed out by Greyson coming in. Greyson is adjusting fairly well to his patch and glasses and the Dr. seems to see some improvement. A group from church went to the cemetery on the Day of the Dead to pass out tracts. We tried to be inoffensive and most tracts were received well. I found very few on the ground. We’ve also repeated last year’s effort at presenting our church to the surrounding neighbors by passing out 2000 calendars together with a tract and a pamphlet that tells about our church and has a "Read the Bible in a Year" schedule. Pray that the Lord will reap a harvest from these seeds.

We have again made an effort at finding a national pastor. We were given a name and made initial contact, but he chose to go to another church. He really seemed to fit well with the congregation and we had great hopes, but the Lord knows best. Pray as we continue to search.
